Chicago soybeans end lower as traders await U.S.-China trade talks

Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) soybean futures closed lower on Tuesday, as traders awaited a new round of U.S.-China trade talks.

The most active corn contract for March delivery went down 5 cents, or 1.33 percent to close at 3.6975 dollars per bushel. March wheat delivery dropped 14.5 cents, or 2.88 percent to close at 4.8975 dollars per bushel. March soybean delivery was down 6.75 cents, or 0.74 percent to close at 9.0075 dollars per bushel.

China and the United States will have a new round of economic and trade consultations in Washington this week.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is expected to release its forecasts for U.S. 2019 corn, soybean and wheat plantings this week at its annual Outlook Forum.

CBOT wheat futures dropped to multi-month lows as grain traders monitored bearish technical signals, while corn futures fell on technical selling.

As for weather forecast for agricultural crop, much of the central U.S. stretching from eastern Colorado state to the Atlantic Ocean is under winter storm watch or warning Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
