Germany's benchmark DAX index slumps

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Monday slumped by nearly 300 points and closed at 11,056.4 points.

The blue-chip index dropped by 291.05 points, or 2.56 percent as the Asian markets slipped on Monday, according to local analysts.

All the 30 DAX member shares suffered losses. Deutsche Bank AG lost 3.96 percent. Infineon Technologies AG, a semiconductor producer, slipped by 3.46 percent. LANXESS AG, a specialty chemicals company, slid by 3. 46 percent. ThyssenKrupp AG plunged by 3.37 percent. Commerzbank AG went down by 3.05 percent.

The turnover stood at 4.02 billion euros (around 4.41 billion U. S. dollars). Daimler AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 351.07 million euros (around 385.3 million U.S. dollars).
