Tokyo shares ended the trading Wednesday higher on the Bank of Japan's decision to maintain its ultra-loose monetary easing policy. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average jumped 136.88 points, or 0. 75 percent, higher from Tuesday at 18,322.98.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 17.33 points, or 1.17 percent, to 1, 493.17. Gainers were led by mining, iron and steel, and wholesale issues. The turnover was about 2,580.4 billion yen (about 21.51 billion U.S. dollars).
