Chinese shares in tight range correction amid tepid sentiment Tue.

Share prices on China's Shanghai and Shenzhen bourses were in tight range correction amid shrinking turnover and closed tad lower on Tuesday as weak sentiment lingered over the market. For the whole day, the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went down 0.25 percent to end at 3,316.7 points. The Shenzhen Composite Index fell 0.03 percent to end at 1,987.47 points. The index for small firms dropped 0.21 percent to end at 7,630.68 and the ChiNext Index lost 0.11 percent to end at 2,429.27. Combined turnover of the two bourses shrank to 625.97 billion yuan from 744.34 billion yuan on the previous trading day.

Stocks of agricultural, nonferrous metals, transport service, logistics, securities brokerage, machinery, shipbuilding, liquor brewing and automobile sectors led the gainers on Tuesday while those of water utilities, medical care, petroleum, bank, electric power and telecom equipment sectors led the losers.

On the stock index futures market, the IF November contract lost 0.64 percent to end at 3,376.6, keeping a discount of 88.89 points to the underlying Hushen 300 Index, which shed 0.3 percent to end at 3,465.49. The SSE 50 November contract dropped 0.79 percent to end at 2,251.0, keeping a discount of 20.65 points to the underlying SSE 50 Index, which went down 0.37 percent to close at 2,271.65. The CSI November contract fell 0.47 percent to end at 6,656.2, keeping a discount of 263.9 points to the underlying CSI 500 stock index, which decreased 0.24 percent to end at 6,920.10.
