China's Shanghai and Shenzhen bourses both opened tad lower on Friday.
The Shanghai Composite Index opened 0.4 percent lower at 3,441.60. The Shenzhen Composite Index opened 0.39 percent lower at 2,203.17. The SME Price Index for small firms was down 0.48 percent to open at 8,095.08, and the ChiNext Index opened 0.34 percent lower at 2,686.30.
Stocks of telecom equipment, aviation, computer, education, petroleum and machinery sectors were among the top gainers at the opening while those in securities brokerage, insurance, shipbuilding, mineral products, shipbuilding, public transport, medical care and agricultural sectors led the losers.
