Tokyo shares ended the trading Tuesday mixed amid little trading cues as investors absorbed last week's Japanese and U.S. central bank policy moves.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched down 29.32 points, or 0.16 percent, from Monday at 18,886.70. On the contrary, the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange edged up 2.32 points, or 0.15 percent, to 1,533.60.

Decliners were led by pulp and paper, and wholesale trade issues, while air transport and land transport gained ground. The day's turnover was about 1,934.7 billion yen (around 15.96 billion U.S. dollars).
