Share prices on the Shanghai and Shenzhen bourses opened lower on Thursday.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index opened 0.74 percent lower at 4,197.90. The Shenzhen Composite Index opened 0.39 percent lower at 2,198.13.
The SME Price Index for small firms was down 0.3 percent to open at 8,589.84 and the ChiNext Index opened 0.76 percent lower at 2,824.82.
Stocks of insurance, transport service, internet, petroleum, electric power, telecom operation, securities brokerage, iron and steel, shipbuilding and coal sectors were among the top losers at the opening while those in chemical fiber and computer sectors outperformed.
