Stock indices tracking Shanghai and Shenzhen bourses opened higher on Wednesday. The Shanghai Composite Index opened 0.60 percent higher at 3,041.11. The Shenzhen Composite Index opened 0.47 percent higher at 1,864.19. The SME Price Index for small firms was up 0.76 percent to open at 6,862.69 and the ChiNext Index opened 0.60 percent higher at 2,160.32.
All listed sectors except for coal, computer equipment, and nonferrous metals opened in the positive territory. Stocks of public transport, Internet, telecom operation, insurance, securities dealers, chemical fiber, hotels, media and entertainment, logistics, and medical treatment sectors led the gainers at Wednesday's opening.
