Tokyo stocks opened lower Thursday as ongoing multinational trade war concerns continue.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 161.69 points, or 0.73 percent, from Wednesday to 22,110.08.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 11.56 points, or 0.67 percent, to 1,719.89.

Oil and coal product, and air transportation issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
