U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade mostly higher

U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly higher on Monday, with 8 of the 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on an upbeat note.

Shares of Baidu and NetEase jumped 4.05 percent and 2.44 percent respectively, leading the advancers in the top 10 stocks of the index.

Ctrip.com International Ltd. and JD.com reported negative results. Shares of the companies decreased 1.07 percent and 0.15 percent respectively.

U.S. stocks ended higher on Monday as financial shares rallied, bolstering the market.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 320.11 points, or 1.31 percent, to 24,776.59. The S&P 500 rose 24.35 points, or 0.88 percent, to 2,784.17. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 67.81 points, or 0.88 percent, to 7,756.20.

The Cboe Volatility index, widely considered the best fear gauge in the stock market, decreased 5.31 percent to 12.66 on Monday.
As of Friday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 3,245.20, marking a 1.42-percent increase for the month-to-date returns and a 4.99-percent gain for the year-to-date returns. Enditem
