Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday as investor sentiment was buoyed by Wall Street's advance overnight and robust earnings reports released by domestic companies a day earlier.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 63.45 points, or 0.28 percent, from Monday to 22,570.77.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 2.43 points, or 0.14 percent, at 1,735.33.
Information and communication, mining and metal product-oriented issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
