Centrica, a British multinational energy and services company, soared 4.99 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Melrose Industries and United Utilities Group increased by 3.28 percent and 1.52 percent, respectively.
Just Eat, an online food order and delivery service, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 5.36 percent. BHP Billiton, a global resources company, dropped 4.55 percent. Ocado Group, an online grocery retailer, fell 4.14 percent.
