U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade mostly higher

U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly higher on Thursday with nine of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on an upbeat note.

Shares of NetEase, Inc. and SINA Corporation advanced 4.15 percent and 3.46 percent, respectively, leading the top 10 stocks of the index.

Shares of BeiGene, Ltd. declined 0.37 percent, the only loser in the top 10 stocks of the index.

U.S. stocks rallied on Thursday as investors digested a batch of economic data.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average soared 251.22 points, or 0.95 percent, to 26,656.98. The S&P 500 increased 22.80 points, or 0.78 percent, to 2,930.75. The Nasdaq Composite Index climbed 78.19 points, or 0.98 percent, to 8,028.23.

The Cboe Volatility index, widely considered the best fear gauge in the stock market, increased 0.43 percent to 11.80 on Thursday.

As of Wednesday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 2,752.97, marking a 5.25-percent decrease for the month-to-date returns and a 10.94-percent loss for the year-to-date returns. Enditem
