Long-term foreign funds are encouraged to invest in China's capital market, said Li Chao, vice-chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), at a symposium on China's capital market and global asset allocation Thursday.

According to Li, CSRC has been working on two-way opening of the capital market with measures including launching stock connect programs, removing restrictions on QFII and RQFII, as well as liberalizing the futures market and enhancing cross-border securities regulatory cooperation.

China's economy has experienced the transition from high-speed growth to high-quality growth, which is now in the critical period of the new growth drivers taking the place of the old ones. The economic structure and the quality of development have been optimized continuously, with the measures of preventing and resolving the financial risks put in place. These conditions have offered a good opportunity for the long-term funds to invest in China's capital market, said Li.
