TOKYO, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Thursday as investors were in a risk-off mood following the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development cutting its projection for global economic growth the previous day.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 140.80 points, or 0.65 percent, from Wednesday to close the day at 21,456.01.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 13.59 points, or 0.84 percent, to finish at 1,601.66.
Nonferrous metal, electric appliance and marine transportation-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play.
