TOKYO, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Monday morning as investors bought back shares that had fallen heavily last week during the Nikkei's 4-day losing streak.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 44.37 points, or 0.21 percent, from Friday to 21,069.93.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 6.18 points, or 0.39 percent, at 1,578.62.
Electric power and gas, pulp and paper, and iron and steel-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
