TOKYO, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Tuesday as investors snapped up bargains following the Nikkei's biggest points loss in three months a day earlier.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 451.28 points, or 2.15 percent, from Monday to close the day at 21,428.39.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 40.53 points, or 2.57 percent, higher at 1,617.94.
Land transportation, pharmaceutical and construction-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.
