U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade mixed

NEW YORK, June 3 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mixed on Monday with four of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on an upbeat note and four others closing lower.

Shares of TAL Education and New Oriental gained 3.23 percent and 2.72 percent, respectively, leading the gainers in the top 10 stocks of the index.

Shares of Ctrip.com and 58.com shed 1.74 percent and 1.61 percent, respectively, top two decliners in the top 10 stocks of the index.

Both ZTO Express and JD.com closed flat for the session. U.S. stocks closed mixed on Monday as Washington's bombshell of tariffs on Mexico has weighed on markets.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 4.74 points, or 0.02 percent, to 24,819.78. The S&P 500 was down 7.61 points, or 0.28 percent, to 2,744.45. The Nasdaq Composite Index decreased 120.13 points, or 1.61 percent, to 7,333.02.

As of Friday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 2,522.25, marking a 16.36-percent decrease for the month-to-date returns and a 10.08-percent gain for the year-to-date returns.
