BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the securities firms and 5G sectors leading the gain.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went up 0.96 percent to close at 2,985.86 points while the Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.86 percent higher at 9,783.5 points.
The combined turnover of stocks in the two indices expanded to 797.5 billion yuan (about 112.6 billion U.S. dollars) from 605.8 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Gainers outnumbered losers by 1,071 to 342 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,543 to 518 in Shenzhen.
Securities firms were among the companies that gained the most. Polaris Bay Group Co., Ltd. and China Securities Co., Ltd. saw their share prices up 9.6 and 7.77 percent respectively.
Companies of 5G mostly gained, with the share price of Eoptolink Technology Inc., Ltd. jumping by the daily limit of 10 percent to 38.34 yuan.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.18 percent to close at 1,689.05 points Thursday.
