U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade mostly higher

NEW YORK, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly higher on Tuesday with seven of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on an upbeat note.

Shares of New Oriental Education & Technology Group and ZTO Express rose 1.87 percent and 1.58 percent, respectively, leading the gainers in the top 10 stocks in the index.

Shares of Yum China Holdings and Trip.com Group erased 0.40 percent and 0.26 percent, respectively, the top two laggards in the top 10.

U.S. stocks closed higher on Tuesday as investors digested a batch of economic data.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 31.27 points, or 0.11 percent, to 28,267.16. The S&P 500 increased 1.07 points, or 0.03 percent, to 3,192.52. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 9.13 points, or 0.10 percent, to 8,823.36.

As of Monday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 3,121.13, marking a 2.43-percent increase for the month-to-date returns and a 36.22-percent gain for the year-to-date returns.
