The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.39 percent higher at 10,698.27 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 804.06 billion yuan (about 115.33 billion U.S. dollars), expanding from 695.38 billion yuan in the previous trading day.
Most stocks rose, with gainers outnumbering losers by 766 to 624 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,252 to 825 in Shenzhen.
Companies in the sectors of planting, oil extraction and gold saw robust growth in share prices, with shares of Hefei Fengle Seed Co., Ltd. rising by the daily 10-percent limit to 10.62 yuan per share.
Shares in the industries of banking and liquor led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.30 percent to close at 1,859.92 points Monday.
