BEIJING, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Major Chinese stock indices ended higher Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 2.01 percent to finish at 3,152.81 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.33 percent higher at 12,433.26 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.17 trillion yuan (about 165.63 billion U.S. dollars), rising from 1.08 trillion yuan the previous trading day.
Gainers outnumbered losers by 1,117 to 355 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,606 to 560 in Shenzhen.
Sectors of securities, coal and automobile led the gains, while liquor and beer sectors led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.57 percent to close at 2,462.56 points Friday.
