BEIJING, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 3.86 percent, at 3,196.77 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 5.31 percent lower at 12,935.7 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices expanded to nearly 1.33 trillion yuan (about 190.17 billion U.S. dollars) from 1.25 trillion yuan the previous trading day.
Losers outnumbered gainers 1,355 to 85 on the Shanghai bourse and 2,048 to 169 in Shenzhen.
Manufacturers of drones were among the biggest winners, with shares of Tongyu Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. surging by the daily limit of 10 percent.
Companies related to liquor, securities and duty-free stores led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 6.14 percent to close at 2,627.84 points Friday.
