1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close higher Monday

BEIJING, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.39 percent, at 3,593.52 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.44 percent higher at 14,406.97 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.05 trillion yuan (165.18 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.2 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

Shares related to COVID-19 testing, medical equipment and traditional Chinese medicine led the gains, while those related to green electricity and natural gas led the losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.04 percent to close at 3,095.69 points Monday.
