The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.65 percent lower at 11,972.02 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 922.98 billion yuan (about 145 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 966.1 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
