Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen Thursday in Beijing, calling for an unbreakable community of shared destiny between the two nations.

Hailing Hun Sen's great attention to the relationship with China, Xi said frequent interactions, like those between relatives, between the leaders of the two countries have strongly helped the development of the bilateral relationship. He cited Hun Sen's three visits to China last year and King Norodom Sihamoni's attendance at China's V-Day celebrations in September.

Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian People's Party, is in Beijing to attend the Asian Political Parties' Special Conference on the Silk Road being held in Beijing.

Xi said China always regards the relationship with Cambodia from a strategic and long-term perspective, suggesting the two sides strengthen the party-to-party bond, step up practical cooperation, boost people-to-people exchanges and enhance coordination in international and regional affairs. "China stands ready to work with Cambodia to expand strategic cooperation and build a unbreakable community of shared destiny," said the Chinese president.

Hun Sen said the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between the two countries had witnessed fruitful results and the Cambodian people heartily welcome the two sides' cooperation projects that benefit the people.

Cambodia fully supports President Xi's Belt and Road initiative, Hun Sen said, adding that he believes the initiative will benefit the people in Cambodia and other countries along the route.

After the meeting, the two leaders witnessed the signing of some cooperation documents.
