China spends 1.08 trln yuan on agricultural infrastructure in 2011-2015

The Chinese central government arranged some 1.079 trillion yuan of expenditure on agricultural infrastructure construction during the 12th Five-year Plan period of 2011-2015, about 449 billion yuan more than that during 2006-2010, an official released on Monday.

Governments at all levels invested about 5,727.2 billion yuan into agriculture, forestry and water systems in 2010-2014, with annualized growth averaged at 14.6 percent, Zhang Baowen, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, reported to the committee at a conference. The budget for 2015 is 1,695.3 billion yuan, up 11.4 percent from 2014, Zhang said.

Outstanding loans related to agriculture totaled 23.6 trillion yuan in 2014, growing 13 percent on year to account for about 28.1 percent of all kinds of loans in that year, Zhang said. By the end of August 2015, outstanding loans for agriculture stood at 25.3 trillion yuan, Zhang added.
