Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Tuesday called for further cooperation between China and France in third-party markets.
During a meeting with visiting French President Francois Hollande in the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, Li said the two sides should build demonstration projects together in green industries to explore third-party markets.
Cooperation in third-party markets is a pioneering and innovative move for deepening South-North cooperation and is conducive to global economic recovery, said Li.
Li noted the positive progress made by Chinese and French companies in third-party market cooperation, urging both sides to continue the trend. During President Xi Jinping's Britain visit last month, Chinese and French companies signed an agreement to build an 18 billion pound nuclear power plant at Hinkley Point C, with the CGN-led Chinese consortium holding a one-third stake.
China and France also plan to cooperate on two British nuclear projects, one at Sizewell in Suffolk and the other at Bradwell in Essex. On China-EU relations, Premier Li called on France to play a positive role in promoting visa facilitation and terminating EU's anti-dumping investigation on China's exports through the method of seeking a surrogate nation.
Li reiterated that China is willing to enhance cooperation with the international community to promote a comprehensive, balanced and ambitious agreement at the upcoming Paris Conference.
On his side, President Hollande said France will further promote implementation of bilateral agreements on nuclear cooperation and cooperation in third-party markets, promote facilitation of trade and people-to-people exchanges.
Hollande called on the two sides to strengthen cooperation in energy-saving industry, stressing that he believes China will play an important role in promoting the success of the Paris Conference.
Before the meeting, Li and Hollande attended a forum on climate and green economy. Li stressed that China will push forward its economic transformation despite the current economic slowdown.
Later on Tuesday, China's top legislator Zhang Dejiang also met with Hollande. They exchanged views on ties between the two countries' legislatures. Invited by President Xi Jinping, Hollande visited China from Monday to Tuesday.
He visited southwestern Chongqing Municipality on Monday morning, held talks with Xi in Beijing later Monday. The two presidents issued a joint statement on climate change.
