Chinese vice premier Ma Kai, in an article published on Tuesday's People's Daily, stressed the need of developing aerospace and marine, information network, bioscience, and nuclear technology industries into four strategic sectors of the country.
The official wrote that those four sectors will be vital to the future of humankind. Under China's 12th Five-year Plan (2011-2015), Chinese government identified seven strategic emerging industries -- energy saving and environmental protection, next-generation information technology, biotechnology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy, new materials, and new-energy vehicles -- as key to the nation's next phase of core development.
