NDRC works on fouding of power trading centers in Beijing and Guangzhou

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) is working with State Grid Corp, China Southern Power Grid Corp. and power generation groups on establishing power trading centers in Beijing and Guangzhou, said Shi Zihai, spokesman of the NDRC.

So far, China's power system reform has made progress in several aspects.

Following the pilot reform in Shenzhen and west Inner Mongolia, China has decided to pilot reforms in Anhui, Hubei, Ningxia, Yunnan and Guizhou. NDRC is mulling to pilot a bunch of comprehensive and special power reform projects in Yunnan and Guizhou.

Meanwhile, NDRC released a circular on promoting pricing mechanism for cross-provincial and cross-regional power transaction in May, and lately drafted six other documents on power reform covering power transmission and distribution pricing reform, power market construction, power transaction institution establishment and normalized operation, orderly deregulation of power generation and consumption plans, power sales side reform, strengthening and normalizing supervision and administration of coal-fired power plants, which are expected to come out soon.

Besides, consumption of clean energy has been promoted on the release of the guidance for improving power operation regulation and promoting full-operation of clean energy power generation.NDRC is working on pilot projects for renewable energy consumption in Gansu and Inner Mongolia, said Shi Zihai.
