China is expected to unveil an action plan for soil pollution prevention and control soon, the Shanghai News Securities quoted Tang Ke, a senior official of Ministry of Agriculture, as saying on Tuesday.

Earlier, the Economic Information Daily reported that the action plan was submitted to the State Council, China's cabinet, for review and approval. The action plan is at the top of agenda of the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) for this year and will set a timetable for soil pollution governance.

Under the plan, soil pollution controls will be divided into agricultural land and construction land and differentiated governance and protection measures will be taken. The authorities will also roll out a series of policies to promote and standardize cooperation between local government and private capital in the field of soil pollution prevention and control and gradually open the field comprehensively to private capital, said the report.

Market size of the soil remediation has exceeded 20 billion yuan this year and will likely be more than 30 billion next year. In the future, the market size will likely reach 10 trillion yuan, estimated by Zhang Yi, head of the Shanghai Environmental Sanitation Engineering Design Institute.

On China's A-share market, soil pollution prevention related companies include Yonker Environmental Protection Co. (300187.SZ), Sound Environmental Resources (000826), and Jiangsu WELLE Environmental (300190.SZ).
