China to implement service-oriented manufacturing action plan

China will boost coordinated development between manufacturing and service industries and implement a service-oriented manufacturing action plan, said Miao Wei, minister of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

Miao said in an article published on People's Daily Wednesday that China will encourage manufacturing enterprises to increase investment in the service sector and develop online supporting services, such as individual customized services and lifecycle management services.

Meanwhile, China will develop IT services for manufacturing industry, encourage Internet enterprises to develop innovative business modes, such as mobile e-commerce and online-to-offline business, boost the development of third-party services, and strengthen supports to the transformation and upgrade of manufacturing industry.

To build a powerful manufacturing country in the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020), China will give priority to building a new manufacturing system that focuses on intelligent manufacturing, reinforcing industrial basic capability; strengthening quality, brand and capability construction of manufacturing industry, boosting the development of advanced manufacturing, and accelerating the development of service-oriented manufacturing and manufacture-related service industry, said the minister.
