South Korea's monthly job creation rebounded last month due to recovery in domestic demand, a government report showed on Wednesday. The number of those employed stood at 26,264,000 in September, up 347,000 from the same month of last year, according to Statistics Korea.

It was a rebound from a 256,000 increase in August. The rebound came as domestic demand showed signs of recovery from the negative impact from the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) outbreak, which dampened consumer spending.

There has been no new MERS case reported since July except for the last MERS patient re-diagnosed with the virus on Monday and re-admitted to a hospital. Jobless rate was unchanged at 3.2 percent in September compared with the same month of last year. Employment among manufacturers increased 3.8 percent year-on- year last month, and service firms continued to hire new workers.
