China Southern Power Grid (CSG) announced that the Laos Nam Tha No.1 hydropower project realized river closure on November 6 and went into its peak construction period 10 months ahead of schedule.
With a total installed capacity of 168MW, the project would install three 56MW water-turbine generating units and is expected to generate 720 million kwh of electricity annually, according to CSG.
The project was under a build-operate-transfer (BOT) contract between CSG and Laos Power Company with total investment of 2.8 billion yuan, with 80 percent from CSG and 20 percent from Laos Power Company. The project is expected to start power generation in 2018.
