Indonesian Industry Minister Saleh Husin on Tuesday said that he expects the country's industrial sector to expand by 5.6 to 6.1 percent this year. That compares with a 5.21 percent industrial growth last year, Minister Husin said. "We are more optimistic in 2016 though the growth is not too big compared with last year's expansion," Husin revealed.

The minister expects industrial prices of fuel and gas would ease to boost competitiveness of the sector. "Our industry must have strong competitiveness in the free trade area. It could be achieved by building strong and competitive industries," Minister Husin said.

Last year, industries of agriculture, food of beverage and automotive grew fast, he disclosed. Indonesia, a country with rich natural resources, has aimed to increase non-commodity based exports by boosting downstream of the commodity sector and manufacturing sector.
