The unemployment rate in Slovakia might drop to below 10 percent in 2016, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico told a press conference on Tuesday in reference to a report concerning unemployment, which dropped to 10. 63 percent in December.
"If we sustain this pace, we can attack the magical 10-percent threshold as early as in the summer.
This is our result. According to private job websites, we have the highest number of vacant jobs ever. This trend is very good," emphasised Fico.
Fico stressed that the government's aim was to focus primarily on young people below 29 years of age and the long-term unemployed, among whom are many Roma people who didn't complete primary school properly.
In the end of 2015 Slovakia has succeeded in matching the eurozone average for unemployment.
