Central African Republic's (CAR) newly elected President Faustin Archange Touadera promised to intensify cooperation with China, saying China is an important partner of the country.
Touadera said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua on Sunday that CAR will like to work together with China to promote the friendly relationship and strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
Touadera said his country is in urgent need to be normalized after three years of civil war, adding that the new government will focus on a series of issues including security, peace, reconciliation and disarmament. Touadea reiterated the importance of economic recovery, saying CAR needs the support from international community to bring its economy back on track.
The newly elected president said the instability in CAR pushed many foreign investors out of the country in recent years. He promised to create favorable environment to bring these investors back to the country. Touadea highly lauded the achievement of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation summit held in Johannesburg, South Africa last December, saying CAR wants to actively involve in the cooperation between China and African countries.
Touadea served as Prime Minister of the Central African Republic when former President Brancois Bozize was in power. He contested for the presidential election as independent candidate and won the election in the second round which was held in Feb. 14. His inauguration ceremony will be held on March 30.
