China will advance the agenda of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) financing at the Group of 20 (G20) summit this year, Zhou Xiaochuan, China's central bank governor, said Thursday.
"SME financing has been on top of the agenda of G20 since it was first introduced in 2010," Zhou told an SME financing event in Washington. "China has paid a lot of attention to SME financing since we assumed the G20 presidency," he said, adding that China will cooperate with other G20 members as well as international organizations in this regard.
Zhou stressed China encourages developing countries to diversify financing instruments for SMEs.
China would also ask the Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion, an inclusive platform for G20 countries, to come out with a specific plan to implement the G20 action plan on SME financing endorsed by G20 leaders in Antalya, Turkey, last year, he said.
China will host the G20 summit in China's eastern city of Hangzhou in September.
