British annual "rich list" came out in newly published the Sunday Times, with Brothers David and Simon Reuben taking up the top spot.
As well as surveying the 1000-name list to find out who is richer and who is poorer, the list reveals newcomers to the elite band of super rich, as well as those who have seen millions of dollars wiped off their wealth.
Brothers David and Simon Reuben have rocketed to the top spot in 2016 with a wealth reported to be 49 billion U.S.dollars, up from 14 billion U.S.dollars last year when they occupied the fifth spot. It's quite a rise in fortunes from the duo who went to state schools in Britain, David starting his working life in scrap metal and Simon as a carpet salesman.
Britain'Queen Elizabeth II,with 490 million U.S. dollars, was placed 319th in the list, the same as last year. Under a front page headline "Super-rich hit by slump in fortunes", the Sunday Times reported 10 of the wealthiest people in Britain have tumbled out of the billionaire club. Plunging stock prices and falling oil prices are among the main causes of the slump in wealth for many.
For almost 30 years, the Sunday Times has followed the fortunes of Britain's rich, acting as a window on the world, showing fortunes can fall as well as rise.
To win a place on the Rich List, the minimum entry level is a fortune of 103 million pounds (148 million U.S.dollars). There are 117 billionaires listed, five new to the super rich with a minimum 10-digit pot of money. It includes 18 female billionaires, headed by Britain's newest richest woman, Kirsty Bertarelli aged 44. She has been once voted as Miss UK.
Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney, born and brought up in a working class family in Liverpool, is the sixth richest person on the "under 30s" list, with a wealth of just over 138 million U.S. dollars. His wealth makes him the second wealthiest sports person after racehorse owner Tim Gredley (280 million U.S.dollars).
Harry Potter wizard, the actor Daniel Radcliffe is in eighth place in the young rich list with 106 million U.S.dollars, while his Hogwarts classmate Emma Watson who played Hermione, with 50 million U.S.dollars, is 16th in the same list.
This year's list includes 28 new entries to Britain's 1,000 richest people, with others falling off the list to make way for the newcomers.
