More Vietnamese enterprises close down in first 5 months

The number of Vietnamese enterprises closing down in the first five months of this year is 4,643, up 19.5 percent against the same period last year, Vietnam' s Business Development Agency said Sunday.

Among the enterprises, 93.5 percent had registered capital of below 10 billion Vietnamese dong (444,000 U.S. dollars) each. Of the dissolved enterprises, 40.4 percent were one-member limited liability companies and 29.9 percent were two-member limited liability companies.

From January to May, besides the dissolved enterprises, 28,582 Vietnamese firms had to temporarily halt their production or business after meeting with difficulties, up 25.9 percent against the same period last year.

Meanwhile, Vietnam saw 44,740 Vietnamese enterprises being established with total registered capital of 349.5 trillion Vietnamese dong (over 15.5 billion U.S. dollars), recording respective year-on-year increase of 24.1 percent and 59.3 percent.

The firms set up in the first five months of this year are expected to create 531,900 jobs, up 2.6 percent, said the agency.
