Brazil's economy slightly grew 0.03 percent from March to April, following more than a year of recession, according to preliminary figures released on Thursday by the central bank of Brazil.
"After falling for 15 months in a row, Brazil resumed growth again in April," said the government website, citing a survey that anticipates the latest gross domestic product (GDP) figures. "The data, according to a central bank survey popularly known as the 'GDP preview', suggest that, while it's still a small advance, it could be the beginning of a recovery," the government said.
Brazil's economy saw its last positive growth in December 2014 with a slight uptick of 0.54 percent.
The central bank relies on the survey to outline strategies to fight inflation, the government said, adding that the preliminary data take into account revenue generated from the agricultural, industrial and service sectors.
