Weekly inflation from June 28 to July 4 in Russia increased by 0.4 percent, the country's statistical office Rosstat said Thursday.
The consumer price index was 100.4 in the week ending July 4, 0.1 point higher since the beginning of July and 3.7 points lower since the beginning of the year, it said. Prices for sugar increased by 1.7 percent in the week ending July 4, for eggs up 0.9 percent and for buckwheat 0.7 percent, said Rosstat.
Annual inflation fell to 7.2 percent as of July 4, which stood at 12.9 percent at the end of 2015. The Ministry of Economic Development predicted that inflation will drop to 6.5 percent for 2016. The Russian Central Bank in June revised the inflation forecast for the current year to 5-6 percent.
