Mexico is not responsible for the reduction of jobs in the U.S. manufacturing industry, said Mexican Tourism Minister Enrique de la Madrid on Thursday, noting that the real reasons are automation processes and technological innovation.
"Mexico is not the problem, but rather it is part of the solution for the challenges that the United States is facing," said the minister during a U.S. trip.
The minister said an isolationist policy or protectionism is not the solution to the challenges that U.S. production processes are facing, according to a press release from the Mexican Tourism Ministry.
Better integrating the two countries' economies is the solution, he said. "I believe that in the world, we will have to come to agreements in order to try to extend the generation of jobs," noted the official.
