Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari said Wednesday that his country attaches great importance to its relations with China and hopes more Chinese enterprises would join in its economic development.
Buhari made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
The Nigerian president said that Nigeria has taken concrete steps to fulfill the important consensus reached between him and Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to China last year, on deepening the two countries' strategic partnership and broadening bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Buhari anticipated more participation in the country's economic construction by Chinese enterprises, which boast rich experience in infrastructure, hydroelectricity and manufacturing.
The Nigerian president also mentioned a joint statement issued between Wang and his Nigerian counterpart, Geoffrey Onyeama, on Nigeria's commitment to the One-China policy.
For his part, the Chinese top diplomat hailed Nigeria's accomplishment of its pledge to the One-China policy.
He said that China would work together with the Nigerian side to enhance cooperation on agriculture, railway, road, petrochemical industry and human resources, so as to contribute to the African country's economic diversification and sustained development.
Wang kicked off his five-nation Africa visit last Friday, which took him to Madagascar, Zambia, Tanzania, the Republic of Congo, and Nigeria.
