Trade between Myanmar and other members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) reached 4.3 billion U.S. dollars in the first five months of current fiscal year (FY) 2017-18.
During the period, Myanmar's export amounted to 1.49 billion U.S. dollars while import took 2.85 billion dollars, the official Global New Light of Myanmar newspaper reported Saturday.
Neighbouring Thailand topped the list among Myanmar's ASEAN trade partners with 1.89 billion U.S. dollars, followed by Singapore with 1.26 billion dollars and Malaysia with 457 million dollars as of August in this FY 2017-18.
In accordance with the statistics of the Ministry of Commerce, the country's trade with ASEAN countries hit over 9.6 billion U.S. dollars in FY 2016-17.
The country usually exports agricultural products, dried and fresh marine products, minerals and industrial finished goods.
Consumer goods, electronic devices, capital goods, automobile and accessories and intermediate goods are mostly imported.
