Japan's industrial output drops 1.1 pct. on month in September

Japan's industrial production in September declined 1.1 percent from a month earlier, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said Tuesday.

The seasonally adjusted index of output at factories and mines stood at 102.4 against the base of 100 for 2010, the ministry said in a preliminary report.

The the decline in factory output in the recording period comes on the heels of a revised 2.0 percent increase in August, the ministry also said.

The index of industrial shipments, meanwhile, declined 2.6 percent to 99.2 and inventories remained unchanged at 107.3, the ministry's data showed for the recording period.
