South Korea's consumer prices rose 1.8 percent in October from a year earlier, marking the lowest increase this year, a government report showed Wednesday.
The October headline inflation was the lowest since December last year when consumer prices gained 1.3 percent, according to Statistics Korea.
The consumer price inflation, which stayed above 2 percent from July to September, fell below the level last month.
Vegetable prices tumbled 9.7 percent, pulling down the overall headline inflation by 0.18 percentage points. It was the fastest fall in three years.
Prices for agricultural, livestock and fishery products gained 3 percent in October, down from a 4.8 percent increase in September due to the sharp fall in vegetable prices.
Oil product prices, however, jumped 8.2 percent last month, raising the headline inflation by 0.35 percentage points. It was attributable to higher prices of global crude oil.
