Inflation in Indonesian continued easing for a fourth straight month in October, the lowest level since January, as price hike of some foods continued to slow amid the government assurance of not raising electricity tariff until 2018.

The national statistics bureau announced on Wednesday that consumer price index eased 3.58 percent in October on yearly basis.

That compares with 3.72 percent annual inflation in September, according to the bureau.

On month, inflation reached 0.01 percent in October from 0.13 percent in September, head of the bureau Kecuk Suhariyanto said.

"In general, many commodities experienced decrease in prices," Suhariyanto told a press conference at the bureau headquarters.

Core inflation, scraping volatile food prices and other administered prices, slightly rose 3.07 percent in October on yearly basis from 3.00 percent in September, said Suhariyanto.

Despite subdued inflation, the central bank may not cut its benchmark interest rate this year, partly to anticipate possible outflows of capitals ahead of issuance of monetary policy by the U.S. Fed Reserve in December.
