Austrian companies in the industrial and construction sectors have seen a 6.8 percent increase in sold production in 2017 with total revenue rising to 277.3 billion euros (340 billion U.S. dollars), Statistics Austria has revealed on Tuesday.
Energy providers saw a significant 13.5 percent boost to their business, while water supply and waste management plants also saw a respectable 8.7 percent increase.
Material goods production, the largest sector by total revenue, saw a 6.4 percent boost, with a notable 17.8 percent increase in metal processing and production.
Cable network installations (up 46.8 percent) and tunnel construction (up 18.2 percent) also saw strong increases, while railway construction fell 39.7 percent.
The total 65,252 companies in the industrial and construction sectors represented a 1.5 percent increase over 2016.
