South Korea's consumer price rose 1.5 percent in June from a year earlier on lower livestock and vegetable prices that offset higher oil product costs, a government report showed Tuesday.

The consumer price inflation, which hovered above 2 percent from July to September 2017, stayed below the level for the ninth consecutive month, according to Statistics Korea.

Oil product price jumped 10 percent last month, pulling up the overall headline inflation by 0.44 percentage points.

It marked the fastest increase in 14 months on expensive global crude oil. Diesel price advanced 12.3 percent, the highest since April last year.

Amidst the expensive crude oil, industrial product price gained 1.8 percent, while transport costs climbed 4.1 percent.

Agricultural product price rose 6.7 percent in June from a year ago, after jumping 9 percent in the previous month.

Vegetable price gained 6.4 percent in June, down from a 13.5 percent increase in May. Livestock product price sank 7.4 percent, pulling down the overall headline inflation by 0.2 percentage points.
